Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour day shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week for 13-week contract
• Work three weekends out of every six-week schedule
• Every other holiday required
• Must have Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing
• Minimum 2 solid years stepdown experience plus 1 travel contract OR 5 years solid stepdown experience required
• Current active compact nursing license required
• Required certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS
• Recent EPIC charting experience required with mandatory checkoff class
• Must pass telemetry tests
• Float requirement: First to float within skillset to sister campuses with 2-hour notice
• Patient ratio: 1:5-6 on days
• Care for post-procedure cardiac patients, STEMI/NSTEMI, carotid endarterectomy, sepsis, neuro patients including CVAs and seizures
• Skills include telemetry/12-lead EKG interpretation, post heart cath care, initiate/titrate drips, NIHSS assessments, chest tube care, and PIV insertion
• Must demonstrate strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• May require precepting students and new hires
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs with no competing health system or agency logos
• Strict attendance policy: 3 call-ins can result in termination

This healthcare facility operates a 19-bed blended unit with 8 designated stepdown beds and 11 medical-surgical/telemetry beds. The facility serves as a teaching hospital providing comprehensive cardiac and neurological care services. The stepdown unit is managed by a veteran leader with over 20 years of experience who achieved the lowest turnover rate in the organization for 2024, demonstrating strong leadership and staff satisfaction.
