Description
Job Opportunity: CVICU RN - Nights
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Job Description
- Provide nursing care for cardiac medical and cardiothoracic/vascular surgery ICU patients.
- Required experience with Impella, IABP, and LVAD devices.
- Experience with NxStage dialysis equipment preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana.
- Minimum of 1 year of CVICU experience, with recent CVICU experience within the last year.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Professional resume/profile and at least two professional references.
- Current license verification and Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Signed assignment agreement and confirmation of assignment documentation.
- Completion of required exams prior to start:
- Pharmacology exam (minimum 80% score, max 2 attempts).
- Specialty exam demonstrating competency in CVICU (minimum 80% or national benchmark, max 2 attempts).
- EKG exam (minimum 80% score, max 2 attempts).
- Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics (updated every 3 years).
- Color vision test, health statement or physical exam, and drug screening (12-panel, within 30 days prior to start, updated annually).
- Immunization and health requirements:
- MMR: documented proof of two vaccines or positive titer (no declinations accepted).
- Varicella: documented proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted).
- Tdap: valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Hepatitis B: vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Fit test for respiratory protection (updated annually).
- 2-step PPD or IGRA testing for TB with required follow-up documentation.
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and other required screenings within 90 days of assignment start.
- Employment and education verifications completed within 90 days of start and updated annually or after breaks in service.
- Onsite onboarding including nursing contingent worker education attestation and badge photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations).
Additional Information
- Optional unit-specific checklist may be required by unit leadership within one week of start.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
This position is ideal for experienced CVICU RNs with advanced cardiac device experience seeking a night shift long-term assignment in Indiana.
