Cath Lab RN - West Virginia
Location
- Martinsburg, West Virginia
Job Title
- Registered Nurse (RN)
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Dayshift: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- 10-hour shifts
- Approximately 10-11 call shifts per month, including weekends and holidays
- Weekend requirement: Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM (for RNs)
- Call coverage Monday to Friday from 3:30 PM to 7:00 AM (average 15 days/month)
Unit and Environment
- Cath Lab & Interventional Radiology (IR)
- 7 suites/holding rooms and 2 cath labs (2 bays and 5 rooms)
- Average 4-5 cases per day (range 2 to 9)
- EMR system: Cupid (EPIC & Dynamics system is Xper)
- Telemetry: Phillips system, hardwired at bedside
- Scrubs provided (Navy Blue for RNs)
- 3-person team: 2 RNs and 1 tech
- Floating possible to Non-Invasive Cardiovascular unit for IV starts
Patient Population and Procedures
- Adult cardiac patients only
- Procedures include peripheral, catheterization, PCI, device implants (ICD, pacemakers)
- No electrophysiology ablations
- RN role includes medication administration and circulator/monitor responsibilities
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience required
- Experience with IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump) and IVUS (Intravascular Ultrasound) preferred
- Familiarity with Acist injector is a plus (training provided if needed)
Certifications and Licenses
- Current RN license for West Virginia
- BLS (AHA) required
- ACLS (AHA) required
Additional Requirements
- COVID-19 vaccine required (2 doses Moderna or Pfizer, or 1 dose J&J) or approved medical/religious exemption
- Must have a valid driver’s license with an address outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
- Disclosure of any background issues required at submission
- Previous permanent candidates must have been gone for 2 years
- Previous travelers must have been gone for 2 years after 1 full year on assignment
Orientation and Training
- Two shifts with a preceptor
- Followed by a "buddy call" in the Cath Lab
Call and Coverage
- Call coverage includes holidays and weekends
- Cardiologist on-call 24/7
- Respiratory therapists called from ICU if needed
- Pharmacy available 24/7 with Omnicell system; some meds mixed in lab
