Registered Nurse – Telemetry Intermediate

Location: Galesburg, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Unit: Telemetry Intermediate (26 beds)

Job Details

• Patient ratio: 1:4 or 1:5
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
• Holiday requirement: Every other holiday
• No call requirement
• Floating required; travelers will float with a 1:5 ratio on assigned unit
• Scrub color: No specific color required; bring your own scrubs
• EMR system: EPIC
• Orientation: 1 shift hospital orientation + 2 shifts unit orientation (1 day shift, 1 night shift)
• Charge nurse role includes patient assignments
• Nurse aides/techs ratio: 1:9
• Ventilator support: No vents; Bipap, Cpap, HF/Vapotherm available
• Central telemetry monitoring tech available
• Hospitalist coverage: Hospitalist 7 AM–5 PM, APN in-house with e-hospitalist support after hours
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7
• Pharmacy support 24/7; nurses do not mix medications

Common Patient Diagnoses

• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• COVID pneumonia
• Atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response (Afib with RVR)
• Tachycardia/bradycardia syndromes
• Syncope

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Registered Nurse license in Illinois (active or application in process)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – AHA

Additional Requirements & Notes

• Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels (drug-free campus)
• Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
• OSF call-off policy: Equivalent of 12 hours off every 13 weeks with no penalty
• Non-billable orientation hours: 12 hours (guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation)

Staffing Ratios & Support

• Charge nurse takes patient assignments
• Techs support at a 1:9 ratio
• No IV team support
• Central tele monitor tech manages medications such as Cardizem, Lasix, renal dopamine, nitro

Notes on Scheduling

• No block scheduling, but night shifts in a row may be accommodated
