ER Registered Nurse

Location

• Hettinger, North Dakota

Contract Length

• 16 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour day/night rotating shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Self-scheduling
• May be asked to float to Med-Surg
• Weekend coverage: every other weekend, possibly every third weekend
• Holiday coverage: every other holiday
• Low-census on-call for extra shifts

Required Qualifications

• Active RN role
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• ER experience in similar settings

Preferred

• TNCC

Unit Details

• Emergency Room
• Trauma Level IV
• Acute Stroke Ready Hospital
• 2 ER rooms plus 1 overflow room if needed
• Average daily volume: 4–5 patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 2 patients per nurse
• No fast track
• No separate holding area
• No separate psych/seclusion rooms
• No in-house security 24/7
• No monitor techs
• No RT in the ER 24/7

Clinical Notes

• Common patient types include acute illnesses, lacerations, orthopedic cases, trauma, and cardiac cases
• STEMI patients are transferred out
• Common drips include heparin, Cardizem, and nitro
• RN performs breathing treatments, EKGs, and most RT equipment setup
• Phlebotomy draws labs
• Radiology is on call after hours for X-ray and CT and may need help with transport

Orientation

• 1 day and 1 night shift on the unit

Dress Code

• Any color or pattern scrubs
• Closed-toe shoes
