Registered Nurse — Short Stay Unit
Location
- Peoria, Illinois
Contract Length
- 26 weeks
Schedule
- Night shift, 12 hours per day
- 36 hours per week
- Weekend requirement: 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule
- Holiday requirement: every other holiday
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS certification
- NIHSS certification
- General med/surg experience
Unit Details
- Short Stay Unit with 13 beds
- Typical patient mix includes stroke, trauma, cardiac, and general medicine cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5
- Charge RN is present 24/7 and takes an assignment
- House supervisor is present 24/7
- PCT support is available
- Telemetry is used on the unit, and RNs are not required to read EKG strips
- RN drips are not titrated on this unit
- Common respiratory support includes BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow
Work Expectations
- Travelers are expected to float first when needed
- Floating may include higher-acuity areas where the nurse may function in a support role if not experienced in that level of care
- No on-call requirement
Orientation
- 1–2 shifts with a preceptor
Additional Notes
- Local placements within 50 miles are accepted
- Scrubs are not provided
- A negative drug screen is required
- Submission requires the last four digits of SSN, middle initial, and requested time off
