Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery RN (Night Shift)

Location: Hoffman Estates, Illinois
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Job Description

• Position in Labor and Delivery specialty as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Night shift coverage.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
• Valid Driver's License

Health and Safety Requirements

• Proof of immunizations or immunity for:

  • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted).
  • Varicella (two vaccines, serological evidence, or verified history; no declinations accepted).
  • Tdap (valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted).
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
• Influenza vaccine is optional; if declined during flu season, mask wearing required.
• Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within specified timeframes, with annual TB questionnaire. Positive TB requires negative chest X-ray within one year.
• Fit test for respiratory protection required, preferably before start.
• Annual 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and updated annually.

Onboarding and Testing Requirements

• Completion of Cerner test-out and training checklist with signed attestation.
• Completion of Ascension-specific onboarding education attestation and nursing contract worker onboarding.
• Completion of biometric consent (required for Illinois positions).
• Submission of a forward-facing badge photo with white or blue background (no alterations).
• Completion of skills checklist within one year of start and updated annually.
• Criminal background check including Social Security trace, OIG search, national sex offender registry, and EPLS within 90 days prior to start.
• Employment verification for the past seven years.
• Confirmation of assignment documentation upon initial assignment and extensions.

Additional Notes

• Optional unit-specific checklist may be required by unit leadership within one week of start.
• Health statement or physical exam confirming good health required prior to first assignment and updated annually.
• Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
