PCU Registered Nurse
Job Overview
- Location: Springfield, Illinois
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Days, 3x12 or 4x12; every other weekend
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Setting: Acute care hospital, Level I trauma center, Magnet hospital
- Bed size: 562 beds
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Management of dysrhythmias
- Use of Rapid Response Teams
- Post Cardiac Angiogram care
- Post MI care
- Pre/Post Cardiac Catheterization care
- Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery care
- Sheath Removal
- TR Band management
- Feeding tube care and management
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS certification
- Cerner experience
- Teaching hospital experience
- Level I trauma experience
Relevant Clinical Experience
- Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Post-cardiac angiogram, post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery
- Sheath removal and TR band care
- Feeding tube care and management
- Pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
- IV therapy and phlebotomy, including ports, arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, and starting IVs
- Medication management involving heparin, cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, PCA, and procedural sedation
- Neurological care including craniotomy, CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
- Orthopedic care including ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, and total joint replacements
- Plastic surgery care including skin grafts and surgical drains
- Respiratory care including ventilated patients, chest tubes, CPAP/BIPAP, HFNC, ABGs, oxygen delivery devices, non-invasive airway management, and tracheostomy management
- Isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac
