Location

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• Nights
• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Weekend requirement: 3 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
• Holidays may be required if needed
• No call or standby requirement

Unit Overview

• Stepdown unit with 32 beds
• Typical patients include post-surgical thoracic and medicine patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3–4
• Floating is very rare

Required Qualifications

• Strong MedSurg Stepdown experience
• Ability to titrate drips
• Ability to read strips
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• COVID vaccination required

Clinical Details

• RNs are expected to interpret and chart patient rhythm with assessments every 4 hours or more often when titrating medications
• Common titratable drips include Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Nitro, Esmolol, Heparin, and Lasix
• No vents on the unit; BiPAP and tracheostomy patients are seen

Orientation

• 3 shifts of unit orientation

Submission Requirements

• Only one submission at a time across the WVU system
• Driver’s license address must be outside 50 miles from the facility
• Previous permanent employees must have been gone for 2 years
• Previous travelers who worked there for 1 full year must have been gone for 2 years
• A current, unexpired copy of the candidate’s driver’s license must be included with submission
• Travel teams must be submitted together in one email
• Up to 2 candidates per opening may be submitted
