Contract
- 13 weeks
- 12-hour day shifts
- 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- Ability to interpret EKG strips
- Experience using arterial lines and central lines
- Proficiency in caring for ventilated patients
- Advanced knowledge of titrating vasopressors
- Ability to titrate drips
Unit Details
- Medical ICU with 20 beds
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
- Telemetry is monitored by a tele tech, and nurses are responsible for reading and interpreting strips
- Intensivist coverage is in house approximately 0700–1900, with telemedicine intensivist support and an attending on call after that
- Respiratory therapy equipment is present on the unit, and nurses are expected to troubleshoot as needed
- Travelers float first; lower-acuity float assignments may include 3 patients on stepdown or 4 patients in general medicine
Scheduling and Work Conditions
- Every other weekend required
- No call or standby requirement
- 12 hours of non-billable orientation
- Guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation
- Drug screen required
- Scrubs are not provided
- Sweatshirts are not allowed
