Contract

• 13 weeks
• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour day shifts

Unit Overview

• Cardiac telemetry/stepdown unit
• 36 beds
• Typical patient population includes cardiac patients, post-cath, AMI, post-op lung surgery patients, respiratory failure, chest tubes, pacemakers, and post-PCI patients
• Higher-acuity telemetry unit; stepdown RN skills are likely needed

Required Qualifications

• BLS
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Unexpired driver’s license must be submitted with the application
• Must be within 50 miles of the facility

Clinical Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 for MedSurg/Tele acuity, occasionally 1:6; 1:4 for PCU acuity
• Occasional titratable cardiac drips include Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Integrelin, Heparin, Ativan, Lasix, and Nitro up to 50 mcg
• Respiratory support on the unit includes CPAP and BiPAP, managed by respiratory therapy
• Telemetry monitors are Phillips

Schedule

• Every-other-weekend requirement
• Holidays are worked into the perm staff rotation schedule
• Charge nurse is available 24/7; days do not take patients, nights do take patients

Floating

• May float to any MedSurg/Tele unit

Dress Code

• Royal blue scrubs
• No false nails
