Role Summary

• Registered Nurse in a step-down / progressive care / med-tele unit
• Provides care for medically complex patients needing close monitoring, frequent assessment, telemetry, and specialized interventions
• May float to other med/surg units

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIH Certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Driver's License

Job Duties

• Perform comprehensive assessments
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and laboratory results
• Administer medications, including IV medications
• Manage telemetry, IV drips, central lines, PICC lines, oxygen therapy, high-flow oxygen, and CPAP/BiPAP as appropriate per unit policy
• Implement and evaluate individualized care plans
• Collaborate with physicians and other disciplines
• Educate patients and families
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the EMR
• Recognize deterioration and escalate care as needed
• Follow infection prevention, fall precautions, and patient safety standards
