Description
RN (Registered Nurse) — Surgical ICU
Location
- Peoria, Illinois
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Schedule
- 12-hour day shifts
- 36 hours per week
- Weekend requirement: 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week period
- Holiday requirement: every other holiday
Setting
- Surgical ICU with 13 beds
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
- May also be 1:1 or 1:3 depending on staffing and acuity
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS
- ACLS
- ICU experience
- Level I trauma experience
- Must be able to titrate drips
Clinical Responsibilities
- Care for post-surgical, open abdomen, multisystem trauma, and endovascular patients
- Titrate pressors, sedation, paralytics, and insulin drips
- Read and interpret telemetry strips
- Float to lower levels of care and take a full patient assignment if needed
Unit Support
- Charge nurse available as staffing allows
- House supervisor available 24/7
- Respiratory therapy in the ICU 24/7
- Monitor techs on the unit
- Intensivist coverage in person during the day, with telemedicine support and on-call attending coverage
Additional Notes
- Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted
- Drug screen required
- Requested time off and the last four digits of SSN are needed for submission
- No call or standby requirement
- No specific scrub color required
- Orientation includes EPIC training and unit precepting
