Registered Nurse — Labor & Delivery / Mother Baby

Location

• Buckhannon, West Virginia

Contract

• 13 weeks
• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour day shifts

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• NRP
• Intermediate fetal monitoring
• Ability to circulate C-sections

Schedule

• At least 2 weekends per month
• May be placed on call due to low or high census

Unit Details

• Labor and postpartum unit with 8 total beds
• 350 births per year
• Typical ratios: 1:1 in L&D and 1:4 couplets
• 2 OB techs during daytime hours, 1 OB tech overnight, and no OB tech from 12:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• Charge nurse is permanent staff only

Clinical Notes

• Must be prepared to care for patients from 20 weeks gestation and up
• May care for patients with magnesium, insulin, pitocin, multiples, and VBACs
• Telemetry-capable if needed, but nurses do not read or interpret strips
• May float to MedSurg or ER as helping hands if comfortable

Orientation

• 2 to 3 shifts with a preceptor

Additional Information

• Scrubs are provided
• Copy of an unexpired driver’s license must be included with submission
• 50-mile radius rule applies
