• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS certification

• Middle initial
• Requested time off

Unit Details

• 63 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 4–5 on days; 5–6 on nights, with possible increase to 6 on days and 7 on nights if needed
• Post-op surgical, trauma, overflow medical, dressing changes, wound care, IV therapy, pain management, drains, NGs, central lines, and TPN are common patient types
• Heparin is the only titratable drip listed
• Charge nurses do not take an assignment
• PCT support is available
• Telemetry is used on some patients; bedside nurses do not read strips
• No vents on the unit
• Travelers are first to float
• Every other weekend required
• Rotating every other holiday required
• No call or standby requirement
• Any scrub color is allowed

Orientation

• 2 shifts with a preceptor
• 1 additional 12-hour shift for EPIC and professional orientation with the unit educator

Additional Notes

• Local placements within 50 miles are accepted
• Drug screen must be negative
• Non-billable orientation hours: 12
• Call-off policy: equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or need to pay for the shift
