RN (Registered Nurse) — Peoria, Illinois

Overview

• 21-week contract
• Day shift
• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Adult medical specialty unit

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS certification
• Must be able to provide the last four digits of SSN, middle initial, and requested time off for submission
• Must pass a negative drug screen

Experience / Skills

• Experience with central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes
• Experience on a MedSurg floor is preferred
• EPIC experience is preferred
• Travel experience is preferred
• Candidates with level I trauma center experience may be considered without travel experience if they have EPIC experience

Unit Details

• 56-bed unit with private and semi-private rooms
• Typical patient population includes acute care general medicine, cellulitis, sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, syncope, anemia, uncontrolled diabetes, acute respiratory failure, liver failure, kidney failure, behavioral health, and addictions
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 on days/evenings and 1:5-6 on nights
• PCT support is available for vital signs, accuchecks, bladder scans, and ADLs
• Respiratory support includes BiPAP/CPAP for sleep apnea, inhalers, and suctioning
• Telemetry is monitored remotely, and nurses can view strips on a pack or computer

Schedule / Work Expectations

• Every other weekend required
• Holiday schedule varies
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating may include other acute care general medicine areas such as nephrology, neuro, ortho, and oncology
• Orientation is 2-3 shifts, with 12 hours of non-billable orientation time

• Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted
• Free charge RN coverage is provided on each floor
• Any color professional scrubs are allowed
• Visible tattoos and visible piercings except ears are not allowed
• The campus is drug-free
