MFM Clinic Sonographer

Job Overview

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a diagnostic medical sonography program
  • ARDMS Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (OB/GYN)
  • ARDMS Fetal Echocardiography (FE)
  • Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonography experience within the last year
  • 1 year of Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonography experience

Preferred Experience

  • 2 years of related work experience in Maternal Fetal Medicine or a high-risk obstetrics setting

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-risk obstetric ultrasound studies according to established protocols
  • Assist physicians with invasive obstetric procedures such as amniocentesis and CVS
  • Evaluate fetal anatomy, growth, and well-being; identify abnormal findings and obtain additional images as directed
  • Provide patient education and support before, during, and after procedures
  • Import images and clinical data into Viewpoint and PACS for accurate documentation
  • Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and readiness for procedures
  • Perform high-level disinfection of ultrasound transducers
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff
  • Participate in quality improvement and process improvement efforts
  • Mentor new sonographers and students

Work Conditions

  • Regular and sustained attendance is required
  • May require work beyond a standard 40-hour week, including after-hours shifts
  • On-call work may be required
  • Role involves exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation, chemicals, disinfectants, infectious diseases, and emotionally challenging situations
