Registered Nurse — MedSurg

Location

• Oakland, Maryland

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Shift

• 12-hour day shifts
• 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Active RN role
• BLS
• NIHSS
• Unexpired driver’s license copy must be submitted with the application
• Epic experience
• Strong MedSurg background

Unit Details

• MedSurg unit with up to 32 beds, currently operating with 20 due to staffing
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is no more than 5:1
• Unit cares for a broad mix of patients, including post-op, pediatric, and detox cases
• Does not take laboring mothers
• Does not titrate cardiac drips or insulin drips
• RN titration of drips is not required
• ICU monitors are used for telemetry monitoring and staff document based on those readings
• Respiratory support on the unit includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen

Scheduling and Work Expectations

• Every-other-weekend coverage is required
• Holidays rotate with regular staff
• Floating is required
• No call or standby requirement

Team and Support

• House supervisor makes assignments
• Nurse aides are present on the unit
• Orientation includes unit training plus education, pharmacy, and lab training

Dress Code

• Any scrub color except camo or orange
