ER RN
Location
- Cheyenne, Wyoming
Role Overview
- ER RN needed to start ASAP.
- 44-bed ER in a Level 2 Trauma hospital.
- Travelers work in all areas, including triage if comfortable.
- ER holds are managed in the ER, and travelers will be required to take holds.
- Separate locked psych/seclusion area with 10 video-monitored rooms.
- Pediatrics make up about 10% of cases.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of ER experience.
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- TNCC
- ENPC or PALS
Preferred Qualifications
- CPI
- Travel experience preferred
Staffing / Support
- 4-6 RNs on staff for each shift.
- Patient volume is 100-105 patients per day.
- Typical nurse-patient ratio is 1:4, with flexibility to 1:6 in psych and fast track.
- At least 2 MDs and mid-levels staff the ED.
- Techs, paramedics, sitters for psych patients, and EKG techs are available.
- Respiratory therapy is available 24/7.
- Nurses read their own strips; monitors are available in zones and at the charge nurse desk.
- X-Ray and CT are located next to the ER and assist with transport.
- Nurses draw labs when starting IVs; techs assist with lines, urine, and Foley catheters.
Schedule
- Nights
- Shifts: 6:45-19:15, 09:00-21:00, and 13:00-01:00
- Arrive 15 minutes early
- Self-scheduling is allowed
- Block scheduling is not allowed
- Every other weekend required
- Rotating holidays
Orientation
- 1.5 days on unit
