Med Surg Oncology RN

Overview

• Role: RN (Registered Nurse)
• Specialty: 6S/7S - Med Surg - Oncology
• Location: Fargo, North Dakota
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day/Night Rotate
• Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week

Unit Details

• Unit: 6S inpatient oncology beds and 7S inpatient oncology beds focused more on hematology/bone marrow transplant
• Bed count: 6S has 16 inpatient oncology beds; 7S has 12 inpatient oncology beds, with 12 more beds on 7S in process of remodeling

Required Qualifications

• 2 years of recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting with 250+ beds
• Experience in a busy level 1 trauma center
• Active BLS certification from AHA
• Active ND or Compact RN license, or willingness to obtain
• EPIC experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Travel experience
• Inpatient oncology experience
• Hematology experience
• Bone marrow transplant experience

Responsibilities

• Care for medically complex hematology/oncology patients needing blood products, antibiotics, and symptom/side effect management
• Perform head-to-toe assessments
• Administer medications
• Communicate with the interdisciplinary team and update patients and families
• May be assigned to administer chemotherapy if trained

Floating

• Floats to other med-surg units at Broadway and may float to other Fargo Med Surg units at Med Center or South

Schedule and Work Conditions

• Rotating days/nights
• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday
• No call required
• Will not work alone

Orientation

• 8 hours of classroom training followed by 24-36 hours of unit training

Dress Code

• Navy blue scrubs
