Registered Nurse — Emergency Department

Location

• Peoria, Illinois

Contract Length

• 26 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts
• 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend
• Holidays may be required based on department needs
• No call requirement
• Travelers are scheduled by the scheduling manager; time-off requests may be reviewed and approved or denied based on staffing needs

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• ENPC or PALS certification
• TNCC or TNS certification
• Must be able to produce a negative drug screen
• 2 years of nursing experience preferred
• At least 1 prior travel assignment preferred

Clinical Setting

• Level 1 emergency department
• 65 beds, all private, with 2 trauma bays
• Typical patients range from newborns to elderly, including minor to critically ill patients
• Common cases include strokes, heart attacks, and stabilized trauma patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:3-5, depending on acuity

Key Responsibilities

• Care for a wide variety of emergency patients
• Interpret and respond to cardiac rhythms
• Titrate vasopressor, cardiac, and antihypertensive drips
• Work with ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow respiratory support as needed
• Draw labs with nursing and tech support
• Float rarely as a general helper on other units if needed

• Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted
• Non-billable orientation is 12 hours
• Scrubs: no specific color required; solid-colored shirts under scrubs only
