Cardio Thoracic Unit RN

Overview

• Role: RN
• Specialty/Unit: Cardio Thoracic Unit
• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Contract length: 15 weeks
• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS
• EKG interpretation
• Medication titration
• RN licensure
• Ability to titrate drips
• Must be able to read and interpret tele strips

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS recommended

Unit Details

• 70 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: Days 1:4-5; Nights 1:5-6
• Common patient types include MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgery, chest tubes, esophagectomy, and gen med overflow
• Common titratable drips include Cardizem and heparin
• Charge nurse is present 24/7 and rarely takes patients
• House supervisor is present 24/7
• PCT ratios: Days 1:8-9; Eves 1:9-10; Nights 1:10-12
• RT equipment includes Cpap and Bipap for home regimen, with heated high flow in special circumstances for COVID patients
• Tele monitor brand: Phillips
• Floating: other general medical units
• Orientation is typically 1 shift or part of one

Scheduling

• Every other weekend
• Holiday rotation required
• No call or standby requirement at this time

• Requested time off must be provided
• Candidate must produce a negative drug screen for all panels
• Local placements are accepted within a 50-mile radius
• Local clinicians within 50 miles receive a reduced rate
• Non-billable orientation hours: 12 hours
