Neuro Med-Surg Acute RN

RN in Neuro Med-Surg Acute

Required Qualifications
- Active IL license or confirmation that application process has been initiated
- BLS
- NIHSS
- Level 1 trauma experience
- Previous travel experience
- Prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit
Job Details
- 54-bed unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: days 1:4-5; nights 1:5-6
- Heparin titrated drip based on PTT; must have heparin gtt experience
- RNs are required to titrate drips
- House-wide telemetry; nurses do not need to read strips
- Charge nurse is present 24/7 and does not take an assignment unless short and nurses would be above ratios
- House supervisor is present 24/7
- Nursing assistants/patient care techs are on the unit
- Shifts are 12 hours on nights
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
- No call or standby requirement
- Float in rotation with rest of staff; when floated outside the general unit, only perform skills you are competent to do and be assigned with a nurse trained for that unit
- No scrub color requirement
- Tattoos must be covered while on duty
- No piercings besides ears
Orientation
- 2 days of unit-specific orientation with educator and preceptor
Submission Requirements
- Last four digits of SSN
- Clinician’s middle initial
- Requested time off
- Negative drug screen required
