Cardio Thoracic Unit RN
Overview
- 13-week contract in Peoria, Illinois
- 12-hour nights: 1900-0730
- 36 hours per week
- Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
Required Qualifications
- Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS
- RN licensure
- EKG interpretation
- Medication titration
- Ability to titrate drips
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
- Requested time off must be submitted
- Negative drug screen required
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS recommended
Unit Details
- Cardio Thoracic RN department
- 70 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: Days 1:4-5; Nights 1:5-6
- Common patient types include MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgery, chest tubes, esophagectomy, and gen med overflow
- Common titratable drips include Cardizem and heparin
- Charge nurse is present 24/7 and rarely takes patients
- House supervisor is present 24/7
- PCT ratios: Days 1:8-9; Eves 1:9-10; Nights 1:10-12
- RT equipment includes Cpap, Bipap, and heated high flow in special circumstances with COVID patients
- Tele monitor techs are available
- Floating may include other general medical units
- Scrubs may be any color except children/cartoon-type prints
- Unit orientation is typically 1 shift or part of one
