RN — Adult Cardiac Intermediate Unit

Overview

• 13-week assignment in Peoria, Illinois.
• 12-hour day shifts.
• 20-bed monitored acute cardiac intermediate unit.
• Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Cardiac PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience (2 years of experience).
• Cardiac PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year.
• BLS issued by American Heart Association.
• Experience in a Critical Care setting.
• Ability to titrate multiple drips (dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, epi, neo, vasopressin, cleviprex, propofol, fentanyl, versed, insulin, heparin, esmolol).
• Experience with Swan Ganz catheters.
• Experience with external pacemakers.
• Experience with PICC lines.
• Experience with midlines.
• Experience with central venous catheters (CVC).
• Experience with arterial lines (radial and femoral).
• Experience with intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP).
• Experience with ventilators and trached patients.
• Experience floating to ICU level of care.

Preferred

• ACLS.
• CCRN or PCCN.
• Experience with immediate post-op patients.
• Experience with VAD and transplant patients.

Clinical Setting

• Stepdown patients from AHU ICU.
• Common patient types include TAVRs, ablations, Watchmen procedures, Micras, Mitral Clips, heart failure, trached and ventilated patients, and overflow from other stepdowns including COVID patients.
• Uses Swan Ganz, external pacemakers, PICC, midlines, CVC, Swans, and arterial lines.
• Ventilator support includes CPAP, BPAP, and heated high flow.
• Philips monitoring is used.
• Travelers are expected to float to every level of care and may float up to the ICU.
• Charge nurses are present 24/7 and may take teams at times.
• House supervisor is present 24/7.
• PCT support is available.
• No call or standby requirement.
• Weekend requirement is every other weekend to every third weekend.
• Holiday requirement is every other holiday.
• Scrubs are not provided.
