ICU RN

Role Overview

• ICU RN assignment in Peru, Illinois
• 13-week contract
• 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Unit Details

• ICU has 8 beds
• Typical ratio is 1:2, with up to 3 patients depending on acuity and overflow/stepdown patients
• Common patient types include sepsis, ARDS, ARF, cardiac dyshythmias, post operative complex care, overdose, and behavioral health medical complexities
• Required unit skills include central line care, arterial lines, bedside brochoscopy, and cardiac arrest AHA guidelines
• RNs are required to titrate drips
• Common drips include cardizem, propofol, amiodarone, norepinephrine, and presadex
• No nurse aides on the unit
• Hospitalists are in house 24/7, with nocturnist and critical care physicians from 7am-7pm
• RT is in ICU 24/7
• Vent, bipap, cpap, and heated hi flow are used
• No tele on this unit

Schedule and Policies

• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required
• No call or standby requirement
• Non-billable orientation is 12 hours
• Unit/department orientation is 2 shifts
• Call off policy allows the equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or need to pay for the shift

Floating

• May float to Medical Surgical in Peru and Ottawa

Dress Code

• Solid color scrubs or OSF attire
• Must maintain dress code policy
