Overview

• Location: Iron Mountain, Michigan
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day, Evening
• Hours per week: 36
• Hours per day: 12

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Michigan
• ED - Emergency Department (2 years of experience)
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• PALS issued by American Heart Association
• TNCC
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Unit Details

• Trauma IV
• No stroke center
• No STEMI receiving
• 14 beds
• 2 trauma bays
• Fast Track with 3 designated rooms
• 2 triage rooms
• Separate holding area plus attached ACU rooms used when overflow is needed
• Separate psych/seclusion rooms available
• 40-60 patients treated per day
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3-4 during the day, with higher ratios at night after 11 pm; after 3 am, only 2 RNs until 7 am
• Common patient types include traumas, STEMI, strokes, hunting injuries, MVAs, and farmers
• ED physician in house 24/7
• RN takes assignment
• 24/7 support from huck coverage, PFE-CNA, medics, and LPNs
• 24/7 RT in house
• No monitor techs; RNs read their own strips with central monitoring station support
• X-ray down the hall and available 24/7
• CT is double doors away
• 24/7 phlebotomy

Scheduling and Logistics

• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required: 2 of 3 winter holidays, otherwise usually every other holiday during the contract
• Manager makes the schedule
• Variable start times
• Floating to inpatient for helping hands
• Call/standby: volunteer to go home without pay
• Solid color, clean, professional scrubs

Additional Notes

• Travelers can triage after review and understanding of facility policies and procedures
• Ok to duos and first-time travelers
• Must note in submission if clinician has ever worked for Marshfield; if previously worked there, end date must be 6 months prior to submission date
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
