Overview

• Coverage area: Sleep Lab only
• Typical workload: 2 tests per shift; 1 tech

Required Qualifications

• BLS (AHA)
• One of the following:

  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) through BRPT with 18 months Sleep Lab experience
  • Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) through ABSM with 18 months Sleep Lab experience
  • Respiratory Therapist licensure as required by the state where services are provided, plus 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience
• Must be comfortable doing sleep studies on medically complex children
• 1 year of experience

Preferred Qualifications

• RRT is preferred if the candidate has children’s sleep experience

Schedule

• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 12-hour shifts
• Weekly hours: 36
• Shift time: 6pm–6am; later note lists 7pm–7am
• Weekend requirement: Yes
• Holiday requirement: Yes, with possible time off Thanksgiving and Christmas
• Floating: First to float

Work Setting / Duties

• Performs sleep studies in accordance with policy and procedure guidelines in the Sleep Evaluation Center, at the bedside, and in critical care areas of the hospital
• Respiratory Manager / Supervisor / Lead Therapist: Yes
• Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Yes
• Department-specific orientation: Yes

• RT equipment includes Respironics, ResMed, and Natus sleep software
• Call or standby call: No
• Intubation: RTs are not required to intubate independently
