Role Overview

Med Tele RN in Iron Mountain, Michigan. This is a 12-hour nights assignment with 24 inpatient beds.

Required Qualifications

• BLS
• 1 year experience in MS/MS-Tele experience (Acute Care experience)
• Must be comfortable with IV starts
• Must be able to float to like units and patients

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS
• Experience or knowledge of TURPS- CBI
• Critical Access or Trauma Level 3 or 4 experience

Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 5:1 on day shift, 6:1 at 11pm
• Team nursing with LPNs: 2:7 ratios
• Common diagnoses include NHP, cellulitis, UTI, COPD, GU, pacemaker, sepsis, nursing home placements, and day surgical cases such as Ortho (hips and knees), choles, appys, and TURPS-CBI
• Small peds population (3/year) is not given to the traveler unless prior experience or no other options
• Charge nurse takes an assignment; travelers could be placed as relief charge
• Nurse aids are on the unit
• Hospitalist or Intensivist is in house until 6pm daily, then telemed is used
• RT is available 24/7
• Tele monitoring is done in ICU daily, with basic tele arrhythmia knowledge needed
• Floating is to like units and patients

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts: 0700-1900 and 1900-0700
• Weekend rotation: every other weekend, Friday/Saturday/Sunday
• Holiday requirement: 2 of 3 holidays
• Call or standby may be required
• Blocking cannot be guaranteed, but longer blocks of 6 shifts may be accommodated when able

Orientation

• Day 1: 8 hours of computer education and 4 hours of shadowing
• Day 2: 12-hour orientation shift
• Day 3: on their own

Additional Notes

• Solid professional attire; no specific scrub color
• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local
• If the clinician has ever worked for Marshfield, they must have an end date 6 months prior to submission
