Description
RN PACU/Recovery
Overview
- Pediatric Hospital, all pediatric patients
- Position for Pre-Op/PACU RN who will help manage care for surgical patients, ensuring safe transitions from admission through discharge
- Shift: 07:00 - 15:30
- On-call required, including after prime time starting at 7pm, Monday-Friday, plus rotating weekend call coverage
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience within the last year
- 2 years of PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Driver's License

Responsibilities
- Provides direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural period
- Follows aseptic sterile technique according to AORN/ASPAN standards
- Evaluates patient's responses to treatments and interventions
- Manages patient's pain
- Anticipates case-specific needs based on knowledge of procedures performed and pathophysiology
Additional Notes
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
