MedSurg/Tele Float Pool RN

Location

• Bridgeport, West Virginia

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts, 7a–7p
• Days
• Every other weekend, Saturday/Sunday
• Holiday rotation with perm staff

Unit / Float Scope

• MedSurg/Tele Float Pool
• Most frequent float units: 6N (36 beds) and 7N (29 beds)
• Other possible float units: 4N (36 beds), 5S (36 beds), 6S (36 beds), and Critical Care (20 beds)

Required Qualifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• Must pass a cardiac rhythm exam
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips

• None stated

Clinical Details

• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is mainly 1:5–6 on days and nights
• Travelers will not have to titrate drips
• CPAP and BiPap are present; RT manages them
• Most units have monitor techs
• Common patient types include CHF, cardiac cath, CP, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, COPD, ortho, and oncology
• Permanent staff administer chemo
• CNAs are used on all units

Orientation

• 1–2 shifts with a preceptor
