Location

• Paducah, Kentucky

Assignment Details

• 26-week contract
• 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week
• Day shift: 0600-1430, Monday-Friday
• Call every other night and every other weekend
• Must be willing to help in other specialties as needed

Required Qualifications

• CVOR CST
• Ability to pass cases including:

  • Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
  • Valve Repair and Replacement
  • Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR)
  • Mitral Valve Repair/Replacement
  • Tricuspid Valve Procedures
  • Ascending Aortic Repairs
  • Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm Repairs
  • Aortic Dissections
  • Maze Procedures for Atrial Fibrillation
  • Left Atrial Appendage Closure
  • TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement)
  • TEER/MitraClip Procedures
  • Watchman Procedures
  • Other catheter-based structural heart interventions
  • Thoracotomies
  • VATS Procedures
  • Lung Resections
  • Lobectomy
  • Mediastinal Procedures
  • Robotic CABG
  • Robotic Thoracotomies

Responsibilities

• Scrub for operative procedures
• Prepare instruments and supplies for scheduled cases
• Maintain the sterile field during case setup and throughout the case
• Pass instruments and assist the physician as needed
• Assist with suture cutting and electrocautery under direct surgeon supervision
• Perform instrument, sponge, and sharps counts
• Assist with draping and patient positioning
• Work with the circulating nurse on appropriate interventions
• Perform post-case cleaning and gross decontamination of instruments
• Follow standards for instrument transport and return to Central Sterile
• Notify the appropriate leader of damaged instruments
• Ensure the surgical suite is disinfected and stocked for the next case
• Complete mandatory hospital education and required compliance items
