Description
RN (Registered Nurse) — Women’s Care Unit
Location
- Peoria, Illinois
Contract
- 13 weeks
- 12-hour nights
- 36 hours per week
Unit Details
- MedSurg Women’s Care Unit
- 18 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-6
- Common patient types: hysterectomy, mastectomy, postpartum patients (mom’s only), general medical/surgical patients
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois Nursing License
- ACLS (AHA)
- BLS (AHA)
- 2 years of experience in MedSurg
- Experience with NG placement, foley placement, blood admin, heparin drips, and insulin drips
Responsibilities / Clinical Expectations
- RNs are required to titrate drips
- Common titratable/set-rate drips: heparin, insulin
- No tele/monitor techs on the unit; RNs do not read strips
- May float to other general medical units
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Travelers fill the shifts with the greatest need
- 4 weekend shifts per schedule period
- Holiday rotation required
Orientation
- 1 shift of unit/department-specific orientation
- 12 non-billable orientation hours
Additional Notes
- Scrubs of any color
- Drug screen required
- Local rate applies within 50 miles
- Call-off policy: equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or need to pay for the shift
