Cardiovascular Sonographer

Overview

• Location: Lexington, Kentucky
• Schedule: 1st shift, 5x8s, 8a-4:30p Mon-Fri, with 1 weekend every 5 weeks, 1 Winter holiday, and call rotation
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Case mix: 50/50 split between Echo and Vascular cases

Role Summary

Responsible for performing quality echocardiography and/or vascular ultrasonography examinations, including report processing, patient education, and on-call responsibilities. Provides direct patient care to patients of all ages, with cardiac sonographers seeing neonates through geriatric patients and vascular sonographers seeing adolescents through geriatric patients.

Required Qualifications

• Cardiac Sonographer experience within the last year
• 1 year of Cardiac Sonographer experience
• BLS
• ARDMS or CCI
• RDCS, RCS, RCCS, ACS, or RVT
• Associate-level college degree
• Demonstrates thorough understanding of the indications, contraindications, and adverse events associated with the use of contrast echocardiography, including saline and UEA

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience preferred
• Echo experience required
• Echo and vascular experience preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Perform echocardiography and/or vascular ultrasonography examinations using imaging equipment
• Communicate procedure diagnostic information to physicians
• Mentor other ultrasound technologists and assist in mentoring new team members or students
• Competently start IVs and administer ultrasound image enhancing agents
• Verify patient identity and orders, follow department protocol, and document all necessary patient information
• Monitor and support the patient throughout the exam
• Attend mandatory education annually and participate in committees as assigned
