Job Description
The Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist plays a crucial role in the performance and facilitation of cardiac catheterization procedures. This position requires an individual with a strong background in radiologic technology who is proficient in scrubbing for procedures and operating X-ray equipment within a cardiac cath lab and special procedures lab setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Embrace and promote the mission and values of the organization.
- Scrub in for cardiac catheterization and special procedures.
- Assist in planning and selecting heart catheters for procedures.
- Evaluate images for quality attributes, ensuring they meet necessary standards for diagnosis.
- Perform special procedures radiography using appropriate equipment in line with departmental protocols.
- Ensure procedural areas are maintained in an orderly manner, cleaned, and prepared for examinations throughout the day.
- Complete assigned examinations within established timelines.
- Report for duty promptly, dressed in scrubs, and ready to provide patient care.
- Review requisitions for relevant information and special requests.
- Position and prepare patients and set up equipment for all procedures.
- Scrub and assist the physician during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Report all unusual reactions or conditions to nursing staff.
- Exercise sound judgment in providing information based on situational context while being sensitive to individual and organizational concerns.
- Demonstrate flexibility by rotating among various shifts or departments to meet patient care needs.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Job Requirements
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to explain procedures to patients and involve them in their care.
- Competencies in specialized technologies, including Balloon Pump and Impella, are preferred.
Education and Experience
- Current NH ARRT license is required.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is mandatory.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
- Completion of a certificate or degree program in radiologic technology is necessary.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates proficiency in the areas of responsibility may be accepted.
