Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Certifications/Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification
- Allied Health Certification (ARRT(N) or CNMT)
- Graduate of an accredited nuclear medicine program (education verification required)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform Nuclear Medicine procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
- Prepare patients for procedures, ensuring they meet all requirements.
- Provide clear instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize patient anxiety.
- Apply principles of Nuclear Medicine safety to minimize risk to patients, self, and others.
- Operate nuclear medicine and associated equipment to achieve desired outcomes.
- Position patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient safety and comfort.
- Immobilize patients as required for appropriate examinations.
- Select appropriate parameters considering established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition.
- Perform venipuncture and maintain venous access. Prepare and administer radioactive isotopes, ensuring correctness in type and dosage.
- Assist with medical record and image sharing as necessary.
- Evaluate images and data for technical quality.
- Report and document Nuclear Medicine safety incidents/adverse events per protocol.
- Manipulate and process digital data for display, ensuring proper identification is evident.
- Utilize radiology information systems, including PACS, completing all required records and reports, and archiving images for physician review.
- Document all pertinent information regarding nuclear medicine procedures in electronic medical records, including medication reconciliation.
- Provide patients with discharge information related to their exams.
- Order radiopharmaceuticals through vendor-specific protocols.
- Assist PET services as needed.
