Job Description
An opportunity is available for a dedicated Pediatric Dietitian to join our interdisciplinary team. This role includes both outpatient and inpatient responsibilities, focusing on the nutritional needs of pediatric patients with various complex diagnoses.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients' nutritional status and develop appropriate medical nutrition therapy care plans.
- Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients and their caregivers.
- Document treatment recommendations in patients' electronic medical records in compliance with facility policy.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds with medical, nursing, and rehabilitation staff to ensure coordinated care.
- Work in a pediatric outpatient clinic, addressing weight management challenges and conducting group classes related to healthy eating.
- Admit and assess new inpatient admissions, attend medical rounds, and participate in nutrition support for inpatient populations.
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members and contribute to the evaluation of patient nutritional care plans.
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum of a Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
- Completion of required coursework and a Dietetic Internship.
- Successful passing of the CDR exam is required; prior to January 1, 2024, a Bachelor’s degree is acceptable with completion of required coursework and Dietetic Internship.
- Current MD Dietitian licensure and registration with the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics.
- A minimum of 2 years of pediatric experience is required; first-time travelers are accepted.
Patient Population
The Pediatric Dietitian will encounter a diverse patient population, including those with complex diagnoses such as:
- TPN patients (though these cases are rare)
- Short gut syndrome
- Various GI complications
- Post-trauma patients in a stabilized condition
- Small infants on tube feeds
Work Schedule
This position operates on a block schedule of Monday through Friday, with typical hours from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Specific duties will vary each day, including outpatient clinic hours and inpatient responsibilities. Holidays may be required as they occur, and floating to other locations may be necessary until October 2026.
Additional Information
Weekends and on-call shifts are not required for this position. The Pediatric Dietitian will be a vital member of the multi-disciplinary team, working to provide exceptional nutrition care to our pediatric patients.
