Job Description

The Family Birth Place provides an exceptional environment for over 500 families each year, offering new mothers a comfortable setting for their labor, delivery, and recovery experiences. Our dedicated obstetric team emphasizes care and compassion, guiding mothers through each step of their maternity journey and encouraging support from fathers or partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum stages.
• Assess and monitor maternal and newborn health throughout the delivery process.
• Provide education and support to new mothers and their families.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes during and after childbirth.

Work Schedule

This position requires a commitment to 12-hour night shifts with a total of 36 hours worked weekly, scheduled from Saturday to Friday. Candidates should be prepared to work every third weekend and be available for holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of OB/GYN nursing experience is required.
• High proficiency in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) nursing, including labor triage, delivery, circulating, C-sections, newborn care, and postpartum couplet care.
• Active certifications required: AWHONN, NRP, BLS, and ACLS (all from the American Heart Association).
• Must possess a valid Michigan nursing license.
• Successful completion of a dysrhythmia test prior to working on the floor is mandatory.
• Covid-19 vaccination is required, with exemptions allowed.
• Travelers must have reliable transportation.

Dress code includes facility-provided scrubs. Orientation is non-billable and will last 8 hours.
