Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse for a position within a nursing home setting. This role requires experience in patient assessments and advanced nursing procedures, ensuring quality care for geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Conduct patient assessments including vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, and neurological status.
• Manage care for various conditions such as diabetes, urinary tract infections, and chronic lung diseases.
• Perform catheter insertions and provide care for colostomy/ileostomy patients.
• Implement and manage feeding tube and gastrostomy care.
• Conduct wound care, dressing changes, and assess pressure ulcer stages.
• Maintain patient safety through infection control protocols and fall risk assessments.
• Ensure accurate patient identification and documentation.
• Assist in emergency procedures and adhere to national patient safety goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
• Experience in long-term acute care (LTAC) is required.
• First-time travelers are accepted with skilled experience.
• PointClickCare experience is mandatory.
• Current BLS certification is required.
• Experience in a skilled/rehabilitation center is preferred.
• Familiarity with community hospital and teaching hospital environments is preferred.
• Previous charge nurse experience is preferred.
• Experience with trauma level I and II is a plus.

Shift Details

• Night shift: 36 hours per week, from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Every other weekend is required.
• This position does not involve a call requirement or floating to other units.

Patient Demographics

This role primarily involves working with geriatric patients. Average daily census is 36 patients with a maximum of 40 beds.

Work Environment

This nursing unit operates with a staffing ratio of 1:40 during weekends and nights. During specific hours, two nurses will be available on the unit.

Orientation and Training

A comprehensive orientation of 24 hours is provided, with additional training occurring during the first week of employment.

Documentation and Communication

Utilize SBAR communication for effective teamwork and documentation through PointClickCare.

Scrubs Policy

Navy blue scrubs are required for this position.
