About the Position
We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our dynamic healthcare team. This position involves providing high-quality nursing care in various units, including ICU, PCU, Medical, Surgical, and Rehabilitation. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in critical care, with a focus on patient safety and effective communication.
Unit Information
- ICU: 40 beds
- PCU: 40 beds, with an 18-bed observation area
- Medical: 89 beds
- Surgical: 55 beds
- Rehabilitation: 47 beds including neurological patients
- ED holding for patients waiting on a bed
Minimum Experience Requirements
- ICU: Minimum of 2 years of ICU nursing experience
- PCU: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Progressive Care Unit
- Med-Surg: Minimum of 2 years in an acute care setting
Patient Types and Common Diagnoses
Nurses will care for a diverse patient population with the following diagnoses:
- ICU: Respiratory failure, GI bleeds, DKA, sepsis, post-operative complications, and more.
- PCU: Respiratory compromise, sepsis, renal failure, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, etc.
- Medical/Surgical: General medical/surgical patients, oncology, and palliative care.
- Rehabilitation: Stroke, spinal cord injury, TBI, and post-COVID recovery.
Patient Care Ratios
- ICU: 1:2 based on acuity
- PCU and CCU: 1:4, adjusted for acuity
- Medical and Surgical: 1:5
- Rehabilitation: 1:4 to 1:8 team model
Required Licenses and Certifications
- ICU: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- PCU: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Med-Surg: BLS, NIHSS
Required Skills
- ICU: Cardiac rhythm interpretation, ventilator management, invasive line management, and tracheostomy care.
- PCU: Cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, IV medication titration (e.g., Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro).
- Med-Surg: IV management, PCA administration, and general nursing skills.
- Proficient in EPIC EMR system and strong communication abilities.
Support within the Department
- Staffing includes tech support in various ratios across units.
- Respiratory therapy and Hospitalist services available 24/7.
Orientation
- 2 days of hospital orientation
- 1 day on the assigned unit
Additional Information
Flexibility is essential as travel between units may be required. All clinicians must adhere to professional dress standards. Breaks are required during shifts, and the use of personal devices on the unit is restricted.
