Certifications/Requirements
- Valid BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
- A valid professional license within the state of practice or a nurse licensure compact
- Verification of suicide training (for compact license holders)
- Verification of demographic data via Nursys e-Notify
- Proof of right to work in the United States
- Critical care experience in a hospital setting
Position Responsibilities
Critical Care Nurses (ICU/CCU) provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Consulting and coordinating with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
- Preparing and administering medications (orally, subcutaneously, through IV) and recording the prescribed dosage
- Reporting adverse reactions to medications or treatments as per policy
- Providing basic bedside care and initiating patient education plans as prescribed by the physician
- Educating patients and their families on managing illnesses/injuries, including post-treatment care, diet, and rehabilitation
- Recording patients’ medical information and vital signs accurately
- Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating diagnostic tests to assess patients' conditions
- Taking samples for lab work, ordering prescribed lab tests, and evaluating reports
- Preparing equipment and assisting physicians during examinations and treatments
- Responding to life-saving situations in accordance with nursing standards and protocol
- Documenting all care information concisely, accurately, and in a timely manner
- Applying hemodynamic, phlebotomy, and IV protocols
- Monitoring and adjusting specialized equipment used on patients and interpreting electronic displays
- Monitoring catheters, leads, and tubing for proper placement and function
- Initiating corrective actions based on information from monitoring equipment showing adverse symptoms
