Position Overview
This is a Float Pool position for experienced Registered Nurses specializing in Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You will have the opportunity to work across various units, providing care to patients ranging from adults to geriatrics.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the PCU and related units.
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Perform assessments, develop care plans, and execute physician orders.
- Monitor patients and respond to changes in their condition.
- Utilize unit systems including Epic and Pyxis for documentation and medication management.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience; 1st-time float pool nurses are welcome to apply.
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH.
- Ability to float between various MS, MS/Tele, and PCU units within the facility.
Patient Population
The nurse will care for a diverse patient population ranging from adults to geriatrics, encountering various diagnoses typical of Progressive Care and Medical-Surgical settings.
Work Environment
- Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:4-5 for PCU, and 1:5-6 for MS and MS/Tele.
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue.
- Weekend shifts are expected every other weekend (approximately 6 weekends over a 13-week contract).
- No call requirements.
Orientation and Compliance
Full compliance is required to start on time. Failure to comply results in a 2-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation schedules. The number of orientation hours is determined by the length of the contract.
Holidays
The nurse is expected to work one major holiday if it falls within their assignment period. If two major holidays occur, the nurse is expected to work both. For three major holidays, the expectation is to work at least two.
Major holidays include:
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving/Black Friday
- Christmas Eve/Christmas Day
- New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
