Summary

The competent Nurse, operating in a similar clinical setting, practices independently and exhibits a comprehensive understanding of relevant situational aspects. This role involves providing both routine and complex care while focusing on long-term goals and effective planning. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to manage clinical contingencies and make appropriate assignments, including delegating tasks to other care providers to ensure optimal patient care.

Responsibilities

• Meet expectations of applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients, in accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families according to their level of practice.
• Administer medications and treatments following established protocols, monitoring for side effects and the effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers, identifying relevant issues and resources.

Job Requirements

Education/Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Experience

• One year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• BLS required (American Heart Association only).
• ACLS required (American Heart Association only).
• RN License in the state of Texas or compact.

Position Requirements

• All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member, and initial onboarding requirements must be validated through the completion of organizational entry competency validation and MedSurg specific competency validation.
• All newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other specific orientation. Skills and competency completion will be achieved with the preceptor at the bedside and documented through tracking software.
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is mandatory.

Work Schedule

Full-Time; shifts are from 7 PM to 7 AM.
