Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled CVOR Certified Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience, including Level 1 Trauma experience. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in cardiovascular operating room procedures and demonstrate proficiency in first assist roles.
Scheduling Details
- Shift Hours: 0600 - 1630
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- On-Call Requirement: Yes, on-call after shift hours Friday through Sunday during scheduled weeks
- Call Requirement: Minimum of 2 days of call each week and 1-2 weekends every 6-week schedule based on needs
- Overtime: Required as per needs of the facility
- Requests for Time Off (RTO): Must be included with submission and approved at the time of booking
- Call Off Policy: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Accept First-Time Travelers: No
- Local Candidates: Accepted based on radius rule criteria
- Pending Certification: Not accepted; must have CST through NBSTSA
Required Certifications
- BLS Certification
- CST Certification through NBSTSA
Required Clinical Skills
- CVOR experience
- First Assist capabilities
- Knowledge of procedures including:
- Aortic Aneurysm Repair
- Atherectomy
- ASD Repair
- Cardiomyoplasty
- CABG
- ECMO
- Mitral Valve Replacement
- Pericardial Window
- VAD Management
Patient Population & Unit Details
- Average of 3 heart procedures per day
- Floating required as per policy; staff may float to other units based on census
- May float to Main OR if CVOR volume is low

This facility is an 864-bed acute care teaching hospital and serves as the premier referral center for the region. It is designated as a Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, with Magnet® status for nursing excellence. The facility also supports advanced cardiovascular surgical procedures through its CVOR department.
