Job Summary
Join a highly skilled and committed multidisciplinary team providing family-centered care to critically ill or injured children and their families in a state-of-the-art 21-bed unit. This role entails delivering comprehensive care for pediatric patients with a range of medical and surgical issues, including acute head injuries, critical neurological disorders, pulmonary diseases, cardiac anomalies, organ transplantation, multi-system organ failure, and ECMO.
Responsibilities
- Provide family-centered, comprehensive nursing care in a pediatric critical care setting.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Monitor and assess patients' conditions, documenting care and progress regularly.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Educate families about treatment plans, care procedures, and health management.
- Participate in unit operations and be responsive to staffing needs across multiple units, depending on clinical demands.
Schedule
36 hours per week, with a shift from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, requiring every other weekend and participation in a holiday rotation.
Minimum Requirements
- Wisconsin Registered Nurse license or compact license from the nurse's permanent address state.
- BCLS certification through the American Heart Association.
- PALS certification through the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of two years of acute care experience within the last three years, including pediatric ICU experience and some experience in CV ICU or cardiac step-down units.
- Basic Arrhythmia experience is required; candidates must pass a telemetry test before starting.
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing is preferred.
Additional Information
If parking on-site is required, a permit from local transportation services will be needed. Other transportation options, including bus services and private parking facilities, are also available.
