Job Overview

The Registered Respiratory Therapist will provide quality respiratory care to patients in an acute care setting. This role includes working with various ventilation systems and requires strong clinical skills and experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapy treatments and interventions to patients as ordered by physicians.
• Operate and maintain ventilators, including PB980 Ventilator and Hamilton T1 Transport Ventilator.
• Draw arterial blood gases and interpret results to make informed clinical decisions.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care.
• Participate in patient assessments and develop treatment plans according to respiratory protocols.
• Educate patients and their families on respiratory care and home therapies.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in respiratory therapy, including 1 to 2 years as a traveler.
• Experience with ventilators in an acute care setting is required.
• Active Respiratory Therapist License in the state.
• Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Shift Information

• 36 hours per week, with rotating day/evening shifts and every other weekend.
• Day positions may require rotation to 11a-11p when needed; night positions are straight nights.

Patient Care Information

The clinician to patient ratio is 5 respiratory therapists on the Day shift, 5 on the Evening shift, and 4 on Nights. Responsibilities are divided across various units, including a 20-bed ICU and Med/Surg floors.

Charting System

This role utilizes EPIC as the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and charting system.
