We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in delivering high-quality patient care in a Level III Trauma Center. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in critical care and be capable of handling diverse medical and surgical cases.

Unit Overview

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) consists of 20 beds, providing care for a wide range of adult patients. Common diagnoses include:

• Substance Abuse/Overdose
• Severe Psychiatric Conditions
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Sepsis
• Gastrointestinal (GI) Bleed
• Respiratory Failure
• Cardiac Arrest
• Renal Failure
• Cardiogenic Shock

Attendings and Residents are present 24/7 to support patient care.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips, ensuring prompt action as needed.
• Float to Medical/Surgical units as required, caring for up to 4 or 5 patients.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Ensure adherence to protocols and procedures for the safe management of patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of continuous experience in a Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU).
• Active RN license in Massachusetts.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends as needed.

Patient Care Environment

The RN to patient ratio is typically 1:2 or 1:1 with high acuity patients, and may reach 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to other Med/Surg areas. The EMR system utilized for charting is EPIC.
