Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team in a Level III Trauma Center's Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This role involves providing high-quality care to a diverse range of adult patients, including those with complex medical conditions.

Unit Description

The ICU consists of a 20-bed facility where we manage adult patients with various diagnoses such as:

• Substance Abuse/Overdose
• Severe Psychiatric Conditions
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Sepsis
• GI Bleed
• Respiratory Failure
• Cardiac Arrest
• Renal Failure
• Cardiogenic Shock

Attendings and residents are present in the ICU 24 hours a day to provide support and guidance.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips and assess patient vital signs.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop patient care plans.
• Float to Medical/Surgical Units as needed, managing 4-5 patients during this time.
• Work rotating shifts including days, evenings, and nights.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of continuous experience in a Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) or similar adult ICU setting.
• Active Massachusetts RN License.
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Telemetry competency required.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Additional Information

This position offers free on-site parking and has a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:1 with high acuity patients. Floating to other medical-surgical areas may be required.
