Job Description:

Essential Functions

• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing interventions, care plans, and patient goals.
• Provides patient care adhering to standards of care, protocols, and established policies.
• Respects and treats each patient as an individual, fostering dignity and positive self-regard.
• Offers patient and family education based on identified learning needs and readiness to learn.
• Collaboratively plans and prepares patients and families for discharge, incorporating necessary support systems.
• Delegates and supervises nursing interventions performed by other staff appropriately.
• Prioritizes patient care effectively, seeking assistance when necessary, and recognizing the need for emergency intervention.
• Provides thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of all relevant data and interventions.
• Communicates patient information effectively during handoffs to ensure continuity of care.
• Promotes learning for colleagues and self through mentorship or professional development activities.
• Identifies patient safety risks proactively and works to mitigate healthcare errors.
• Recognizes and addresses ethical issues in patient care.
• Safely administers medications and intravenous therapy according to physician orders and protocols.
• Assesses patient pain levels and follows up on the effectiveness of pain management strategies.
• Monitors cardiac rhythms and interprets EKG changes accurately and timely.
• Implements thrombolytic and anticoagulation therapy standards.
• Demonstrates knowledge in mechanical ventilation and performs related procedures competently.
• Interprets vital signs and arterial blood gases, recognizing impaired gas exchange and airway clearance issues.
• Assists with hemodynamic monitoring and equipment setup.
• Administers vasoactive medications, understanding relevant dosage and titration parameters.
• Monitors patients in the post-operative phase, adhering to established protocols.
• Implements components of the VAP bundle and ensures adherence to related protocols.
• Actively participates in multi-disciplinary rounds for effective patient care planning and evaluation.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Minimum Experience

• 1 year of medical-surgical experience preferred.
• Previous telemetry experience required.
• ICU experience preferred.

Minimum Licenses and Certifications

• Current RN License in Massachusetts.
• ACLS certification upon hire or an active BLS card with ACLS obtained within 60 days of hire.
• CCRN certification preferred.

Functional Demands

Physical Requirements:

• Exerts 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently.
• Involves reaching, handling, and feeling tasks frequently.
• Occasionally stoops and kneels as required.

Shift Information

36 hours per week, nights from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with every other holiday and weekend obligations.
