Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with a specialty in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality pre-operative and post-operative care for a diverse patient population in our outpatient surgery department.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patients recovering from anesthesia before transferring them to their designated recovery area.
• Administer medications and provide treatments as prescribed by physician guidelines.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure comprehensive patient care and safety.
• Support patients and their families with education regarding recovery processes and post-operative care.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.

Shift Information

This position requires staff to work weekdays only, with no weekends or holidays. Shifts include:

• 1x12 hour shift (05:00 - 17:30)
• 3x8 hour shifts (various start times)

Department Overview

The outpatient surgery department includes 29 recovery beds and caters to outpatient endoscopy and pain management patients, in addition to surgical patients. We deliver a wide array of surgical services, including neurosurgery, urology, orthopedics, general surgery, and vascular procedures. The department operates Monday through Friday from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Certifications: ACLS, CLS, and PALS.
• Experience with AAA aneurysm care is preferred.
• Previous experience in a PACU or similar recovery setting is required.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Must be a seasoned traveler; first-time travelers will not be considered.
